HUMBERTO VALDEZ
(Mexico, b. 1973)

Humberto Valdez is founder of the Project Alta Real Zacatecas (est. 2016) as well as founder and director of printmaking and drawing workshop La Imagen del Rinoceronte (The Image of the Rhinoceros, est. 2007) a studio which offers workshops to the public free of charge. His body of work consists of photographs, three-dimensional objects, prints, and large scale installations. Contraste, in which the figure slowly emerges from the background, demonstrates his distinctive graphic style, using linocut, collograph, wood and upcycled materials. His works have been exhibited throughout Mexico, Europe and South America as well as in Taiwan and the United States.
