SANDRA C. FERNÁNDEZ

Sandra C. Fernández is a printmaker and book artist and Director of sFernandez Press and Taller in New Jersey. Born in Queens, New York and raised in Quito, Ecuador, Fernández explores issues of migration and dislocation, power structures, political freedom, and trauma. Separated Minor #2,739 (Detenido), directly addresses the cruel practices towards migrants intensified by the Trump campaign. In an effort to discourage immigration from Latin American countries, children are separated from their parents an individuals are often unlawfully detained. Fernandez has participated in exhibitions throughout the United States and Latin America, as well as in Italy, Canada, Spain, Palestine, China, and Japan.
