TONO NUÑEZ
(Peru, b. 1976)

Toño Nuñez is resident printmaker at Inkspira (Est. 1998) in Lima, Peru. His experimental prints and mixed media installations engages urban popular imagery through hand pulled serigraphs, a process that he sees as challenging the mechanization of work and manufacturing. Created in collaboration with Rocío Rendón, Meráya is a psychedelic depiction of a Peruvian mythical entity with the ability to heal, transform itself into any animal, and traverse barriers between the cosmos. Nuñez has had exhibitions in Peru, Argentina, Brasil, Romania and the United States.
