YAMILYS BRITO JORGE
(Cuba, b. 1972)

Yamilys Brito Jorge is co-director of Cuba’s Taller Experimental de Gráfica de la Habana (Experimental Graphics Workshop of Havana). By piecing together symbols and images related to the history of Cuba as well as its architecture, folklore, and traditions, she creates mixed media prints that explore concepts that range from memory, isolation, and nostalgia to homeland and national identity. Brito’s work has been exhibited in Cuba, the United States, Haiti, Spain, France, and Germany.
