Lourdes Almeida (México, b. 1952)

Lourdes Almeida was born in Mexico City on June 2, 1952. In 1978 she began working as an independent professional photographer for different cultural institutions and abroad. She studied photography in Italy and also leaned under the direction of Manuel Álvarez Bravo. Almeida incorporates motifs of religion and the female body, expertly combining notions of reality and fantasy in one fell swoop. Apart from photography, she is also known for her cinematographic productions and books.
