“Be Yourself”

What I like the most about this photo is the fact that it was spontaneous. I consider it my best self portrait so far because it expresses in a way who I am and how my personality is. I usually take photos of objects or places, but never of myself. This semester was a challenge for me because it made me think of myself more than I would. I decided to share this photo because throughout the semester I have discovered how to feel secure about myself, my self-portraits and expressing who I am and what I am going through. Photography has helped me share stories and moments about other people, but I think now it's time to share my own story. Now, I can say that I know how to express who I am or how I feel for something, photography helped me share stories and moments but I think now it's time to share my story and who I am.

My name is Nimsy Rivas, I am 17 years old and I am from Guatemala. I am currently on 11th grade at Augustus F. Hawkins High School, CHAS. The best thing about me is my personality although in some occasions I can be a shy person I actually have a very cheerful and fun personality. I like to meet people and make new friends, at first I can be a bit reserved but when people get to know me better they realize that I have a friendly attitude.

This is my third semester being part of Las Fotos Project, being part of this project has given me too many opportunities. I have learned a lot about photography. My favorite part of photography is that with just a few images I am able to tell many stories, I like capturing moments and being able to share them. I think photography gives me a tool to express myself to others, what I think and who I am.
