Afrochingonas es un podcast creado, producido y postproducido por tres mujeres jóvenes afrodescendientes: Marbella Figueroa, Scarlet Estrada y Valeria Angola. Este proyecto autogestivo surgió a raíz de la cuarentena para compartir nuestras reflexiones sobre lo que significa ser una mujer negra en la Ciudad de México. En Afrochingonas trabajamos para consolidar un espacio de creación y comunicación. Este proyecto más que un podcast es una posibilidad colectiva de construir el mundo que queremos habitar. Abordamos los temas con un enfoque antirracista, en donde nuestra experiencia siempre prevalece. Tejemos alianzas con voces y cuerpos disidentes que, como nosotras, resisten a los sistemas estructurales de opresión.

Afrochingonas is the only podcast created, produced and post-produced by three young Afro-descendant women: Marbella Figueroa, Scarlet Estrada, and Valeria Angola. This self-managed project emerged from the quarantine to share our reflections on what it means to be a Black woman in Mexico City. At Afrochingonas we work to consolidate a space for creation and communication. This project is more than a podcast, it is a collective possibility to build the world we want to inhabit. We approach issues with an anti-racist approach, where our experience always prevails. We weave alliances with dissident voices and bodies that, like us, resist the structural systems of oppression.

Marbella Figueroa
Soy un conjunto de ideas, pensamientos, situaciones, lugares, sentires y emociones. La mayor parte de mi tiempo la dedico a la creación plástica, por eso la identidad visual del proyecto corre por mi cuenta. Me encanta jugar y divertirme con colores, texturas, hilos, brillantinas y todo lo que encuentre por mi paso.
Tengo el poder de ser aries, chocolateinomana (adicta al chocolate), bailarina y juguetona. No tengo verdades absolutas ni universales, me construyo a través de las experiencias del día a día. La única certeza que tengo es que soy impermanente e incongruente.

I am a set of ideas, thoughts, situations, places, feelings and emotions. I dedicate most of my time to creating visual art, that is why the visual identity of the project is on me. I love to play and have fun with colors, textures, threads, glitter and everything I find in my path.
I have the power that comes from being an Aries, a chocolateinomana (chocolate addict), dancer and playful. I do not have absolute or universal truths, I build myself through day-to-day experiences. The only certainty I have is that I am impermanent and incongruous.
Scarlet Figueroa
Soy Scar, vivo al oriente de la CDMX . Exploro mi ser mientras me hábito, me gusta crear y transmitir mis pensamientos, mis sentimientos y mis procesos por escritos, por audios, por fotografías, algunas veces por medios visuales. Estoy en proceso de titularme como antropóloga social y comunicóloga, entrelazo mis aprendizajes para comprender la complejidad de la realidad desde mi ser mujer racializada. Me interesa generar lazos y espacios para reflexionar respecto a las problemáticas sociales desde diferentes perspectivas. Soy una sagitariana tratando de existir desde la libertad

I'm Scar from east of CDMX. I explore my being while I inhabit myself, I like to create and transmit my thoughts, my feelings and my processes through writing, audio, and photographs, sometimes by visual means. I am in the process of qualifying as an anthropologist and communication specialist and I intertwine my learnings to know myself and understand the complexity of reality from my being a racialized woman. I am interested in generating ties and spaces to reflect on social problems from different perspectives. I am a Sagittarius trying to exist from a place of freedom.
Valeria Angola
Me gusta leer cosas ñoñas y tener conversaciones profundas. Soy cimarrona, acuariana de sol y canceriana de luna. Estudié danza y etnología. Nací en México, pero crecí en Colombia, así que tengo dos nacionalidades. Me gusta bailar y escribir, soy muy intelectualoide, pero a la vez muy sensible. Hago parte de AFROntera, una colectiva antirracista en CDMX, escribo en Malvestida y represento a Afroféminas en México desde 2019.

I like to read silly things and have deep conversations. I am a maroon, an Aquarian of the sun and a Cancerian of the moon. I studied dance and ethnology. I was born in Mexico, but grew up in Colombia, so I have two nationalities. I like to dance and write, I am very intellectual, but at the same time very sensitive. I am part of AFROntera, an anti-racist collective in CDMX, I write in Malvestida and I represent Afroféminas in Mexico since 2019.
