2 Point Perspective
Video tutorial: 2 Point Perspective
In this episode of #LearnWithMOLAA, we are covering two point perspective!
Objective: Learn how to draw 3-dimensional forms using a 2-point linear perspective.
Linear Perspective: A mathematical system for creating the illusion of space and distance on a 2-dimensional surface. Illusion of 3-dimensional space on a 2-dimensional surface!
Materials: Paper Pencil Eraser Marker Ruler
Key Terms:
1. Horizon Line
2. Vertical Line
3. Vanishing Point
Instructions:
1. Draw a horizon line.
2. Draw 2 vanishing points anywhere on the horizon.
3. Draw 1 vertical line anywhere below the horizon. Let’s give our shape some dimension!
4. Connect the ends of your vertical line to both vanishing points. a. Draw a line from the top of the perpendicular line to Vanishing Point 1 b. Draw a line from the top of the perpendicular line to Vanishing Point 2 c. Draw a line from the bottom of the perpendicular line to Vanishing Point 1 d. Draw a line from the bottom of the perpendicular line to Vanishing Point 2
5. Draw two vertical lines to form the sides of the shape. a. One on the Left Side and one on the Right Side
6. Connect the ends of your vertical lines to each vanishing point. a. Connect the top of the left vertical line with the right vanishing point. b. Connect the right vertical line with the left vanishing point. c. Connect the bottom of the left vertical line with the right vanishing point d. Connect the bottom, of the right vertical line with the left vanishing point Trace your 3-dimensional form using a marker and erase any remaining marks.
One step further? Make more 3-D forms below and above the horizon line! Follow steps 3-6.
