Patssi Valdez b. 1951

Patssi Valdez was born in East Los Angeles, California in 1951. Valdez studied at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. She expresses her art in a variety of mediums ranging from performance to fine art. She helped found Asco, an activist focused LA-based art collective concerned with socioeconomic and political current events affecting the Chicano community in the United States. After her work with Asco, she continued to express her activists stances in her art using themes from the feminist movement and other social issues. She is known for creating performance art, installations, photography, and paintings, as well as depicting her home of Los Angeles.
