This month we will be reading, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. This is a coming-of-age novel that tells the story of Esperanza Cordero, a young Latina girl growing up in a Chicago neighborhood. Through series of vignettes, the narrative explores Esperanza’s experiences living in a modest that fails to meet her dreams of a better life. As she navigates her environment, she grapples with themes of identity, belonging and the complexities of her cultural heritage.
