Inspired by the architectural nature of Alexandre Arrechea’s exhibition “Intersected Horizons,” we offer you an opportunity to learn five-point perspective drawing to create a cityscape like you’ve never drawn before. In this technical workshop you will learn to use 5 vanishing points to create the illusion of a 3-dimensional space on a 2-dimensional surface. All materials are provided.  

Join us for an enlightening musical workshop inspired by the sounds of Native American instruments. Attendees will decorate their own flute and learn how to play their ancestral instrument tool. All materials are included in the cost. This workshop is open to all ages, no musical experience is necessary! We recommend participants attend for the full duration of the workshop. 

Learn beginning techniques for sewing Mexican servilletas and small pouches for the table. In honor of our exhibition, Festín de Sabores, we will learn about the traditional use of the servilleta to keep delicious homemade tortillas warm and how to stitch your own colorful fabric. All materials provided. Children under the age of 10 are welcome but parents are responsible for ensuring proper use of tools.

Join us for a very special August Community Art Workshop featuring comics artist Rafael Navarro. For almost thirty years, Rafael Navarro has been working as a gun-for-hire artist in the diverse fields of animation, illustration, and comic books. It has earned him a Daytime Emmy as well as two nominations for outstanding special class in an animated program and a recipient for the Xeric Foundation Award. Clients have included: Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Warner Bros, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Mattel/Technicolor, and Lego, to name a few. Drawing materials provided.   

NEW DATE! Calling all photographers and photo enthusiasts!

Join us for a community art workshop inspired by Compassionate Lens, a look at photography, and from the MOLAA collection. We’ll be working with Fuji Instax film and a special technique called Transfer and Emulsion Lift, where we create photographic emulsion collage with a delicate and ethereal aesthetic. All materials will be provided!  

Join us for our FREE Sunday Children’s, where we will experiment with sun prints, a special process whereby placing objects on special paper and exposing the paper to sunlight. Early photographers created blue images, called cyanotypes or sun prints. All materials provided.    

This event is FREE and runs from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. This workshop is first come, first serve!
