Neomarica caerulea

Falso Iris / Walking Iris

Neomarica caerulea

Regions: Brazil, Paraguay

This plant in the Iris family has beautifully ornate flowers, that each only appear for a day but continually bloom every few days for several months. Once finished blooming, the flower stems offset new little plants, which eventually fall to the ground. These fallen plants then root and create a smattering of new plants around the original, hence the common name “the Walking Iris.”
