Roxcy & Ani Cordero Conversation

Rocxy is a young Puerto Rican singer who moved to Florida in 2018 after Hurricane Maria devastated her island. She currently is a junior at South Broward High School where she participates in the I Learn America project. You can listen to Rocxy’s music via Soundcloud.

Ani Cordero is a Puerto Rican singer/composer and activist living in NYC. Her catchy songs of resistance pair defiance and jubilance. Ani is co-founder of Puerto Rico Independent Musicians and Artists (PRIMA) which supports the music community in Puerto Rico.


I LEARN AMERICA (ILA) is a transnational, multifaceted, and participatory youth development and education program that uses the power of creative storytelling and the arts to foster empathy, urgency, and action around issues affecting migrant youth, as they forge their path in a new land. Through collaborations with schools, storytelling mentors/artists, activists, and community-based organizations, ILA strengthens young people’s social-emotional learning and helps them transform their stories into tools for social change and personal growth.
