Rooted in the first experiments in 1973 to the results of the use of Deep Learning, in a body practice anchored in the technology of each era, Analivia Cordeiro and computer scientist Nilton Lobo lead this dance and movement workshop in which participants are guided through movement exercises and created original choreographies inspired by the relationships between the body, movement, visual and audiovisual art, and media technology. Children will explore the art of self-expression using mirrors, watercolors, ink, and the art of collage. This unique learning experience places an emphasis on having fun while exploring techniques for creating self-portraits inspired by artist and farmworker, Narsiso Martinez.

Drawing inspiration from the work Oaxacan artist Narsiso Martinez, participants will learn how to do printmaking with Styrofoam blocks, cardboard, and ink. Drawn from his own experience as a farmworker, Martinez’s work focuses on the people performing the labors necessary to fill produce sections and restaurant kitchens around the country. Martinez’s portraits of farmworkers are painted, drawn, and expressed in sculpture on discarded produce boxes collected from grocery stores.
All materials for the workshop are provided. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty! This is a beginner’s class.

Join the Salvadorian artist Crack Rodríguez, Gabriela Urtiaga, MOLAA’s Chief Curator, and Daniela Lieja, LACE’s Chief Curator for an onsite tour of the exhibition DREAM TEAM on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 4:00 pm PDT at MOLAA. The tour will be in Spanish with translation facilitated by MOLAA Staff. DREAM TEAM is the first solo Museum show in US of this young artist where he presents an installation that honors the migrant struggle and opens a space for people to dream and create futures in these lands.
